What is Senior Cutoff? And how does it affect YOU!

WHAT IS THE RATIONALE FOR THIS TRADITIONAL PROCEDURE?
Each year a deadline date is set termed the “senior cutoff”.  By that date teachers must make a decision and identify those seniors who have failed or are in danger of failing.
The senior cutoff procedure was instituted to insure that graduating senior candidates, and their parents, would not confront any last-minute notification regarding a diploma requirement deficiency.  The procedure insures that both the student and her/his parents, are informed about a potential diploma requirement deficiency in a timely fashion.
WHEN IS THE CUTOFF?  The senior cutoff date is Friday, April 19, 2012.
WHAT NOTIFICATION HAS MRS. JONES GIVEN STUDENTS:
1.  Countdown of all end of year assignments began on English 4 web page before Spring Break. All lesson plans and due dates (in red) are posted on both my website and on the class white board on Monday each week. There is no reason for students not to know what is due and when it is due.
2.  I have offered numerous ehancement opportunities through which students can gain extra credit, with specific deadline dates, throughout Semester 2.
3.  I have made phone calls home, conferenced with individual students, reminded students, worked with AVID teachers and other staff to encourage improved performance in my class.

4.   I am available after school most days until 4 p.m. Students may email me questions/concerns/rough drafts anytime for feedback and assistance.
